Game Ready IQ
Your Action‑Ready Insights
You love sports. You watch. You’ve participated. Maybe you coach. Whatever your role, you studied and prepared and here you are with your game ready intelligence - whether you recognize now or not.
To get started with analytics, let’s start with the concept of decision-ready analytics.
What is a decision-ready analytic and why is it important to YOU?
A decision-ready analytic is a live game performance insight that you are ready to act on. It is the ability to recognize critical biomechanics (movement) changes or changes in player or athlete behavior.
It’s something like a change in a sport specific that might indicate an injury or fatigue, for example.
Once you identify the decision-ready analytic the next step is to determine what the analytic means to player and team performance and possibly, game outcomes.
You are thinking this sounds complicated and for the experts, but that’s wrong!
Everyone can master the decision-ready analytic and use it in sports forecasting! The key is knowledge of the game and the skills used to play it, not statistics or athletic training expertise.
The goal is to be able to use decision-ready analytics in forecasting. The skill is to recognize changes in player and team performance BEFORE anyone else. This requires hours playing and watching a sport, not academic expertise.
That’s where qualitative analysis (QA) comes in. QA is a fancy way to say that a movement change reveals player changes that help to explain why a player or team is gaining momentum or losing its edge — ahead of the scoreboard.
If you are a gym or sports enthusiast, you can do QA. This is not reserved for professional sports scientists only. It’s an easy skill if you know how to focus your expertise.
It’s simple: remember that qualitative analysis (QA) is ongoing in real-time. If you see an odd mechanic, AND you determine a reason for that strange mechanic (injury, fatigue, lack of focus, etc.) AND that the mechanic could affect play you have successfully formed a decision-ready analytic.
What you do with your decision-ready analytic is up to you and can determine whether you are ahead of the curve or not when it comes to forecasting player performance and game outcomes.
Play. Watch. Participate. Believe in yourself and your sports and movement knowledge and sports analysis become easy and accessible to everyone.
